Comedienne Sarah Silverman Continues Vilification of Israel; Demands Release of Ahed Tamimi.

Comedian Sarah Silverman is no stranger to controversy. From irking both Jews and Christians with her 2005 stand up set called “Jesus is Magic” to her flippant jokes about abortion, Silverman knows how to stir the pot.

Her latest controversy is a political tweet about detained Palestinian teenager Ahed Tamimi and there is a lot to examine. Ironically, she was not being funny or trying to be controversial.

“Jews have to stand up EVEN when ESPECIALLY when the wrongdoing is BY Jews/the Israeli government”, Silverman tweeted, adding a link to an Amnesty International campaign calling for Tamimi's release.

Tamini was arrested after her mother filmed her shouting at and shoving two soldiers in the driveway of her family home in Nabi Saleh in the West Bank in December of last year. The incident was streamed on Nariman Tamimi's Facebook page and video of the confrontation went viral, BBC reported.

In the footage she kicks one soldier and slaps his face and threatens to punch the other. Tamini, 17, faces up to ten years in prison, and faces twelve charges in an Israeli military court; the trial just recently has begun.

Many Palestinians consider her a political icon as she has a history of confronting IDF soldiers. Ahed Tamimi had first came to public prominence when, aged 11, she appeared in another video threatening to punch a different soldier.

Now for the rest of the story.

Those who see the entire picture in this scenario point out that her family are beyond just being “critics of the Israeli government”, but rather vehement Anti-Semites, disguised as what is fashionably now known as “anti-Zionist”.

Even worse, the teenage girl's cousin Ahlam Tamimi assisted a terrorist during the infamous Sbarro terror attack in 2001, where 15 people were slaughtered.

This is hardly a cause to get behind in the name of “Social justice”.

Sarah Silverman created this weekend, what we call in the age of Trump, a Tweet storm with her support of Tamini.

“Entertainers exploiting their fame are often a poor choice for clarifying what's moral or good. Sarah, did you stand up for our daughter Malki and the other 15 Jewish lives extinguished by Ahlam Tamimi, Ahed's cousin and role-model-in-life? Do you stand with Ahed's call to kill?”, this was one of the strongest tweets, which came from a parent who lost their child to a Palestinian terrorist, who was assisted by Ahed's cousin.

Conservative pundit Noah Pollak labelled Silverman a “disgrace” who was “pimping for a notorious terrorist family”, while Shahar Azani, a senior executive at pro-Israel group StandWithUS, tweeted “Beware Sarah Silverman whom you champion. Indeed, to the undiscerning eye this villain might seem like a hero but dig even a little and you will find blood libels of old against the Jewish people, naked anti-Zionism and rampant antisemitism. We should all stand for #Peace not hate.”

The tweets did not end there, as The Algemeiner blog pointed out some more powerful rebuttals to Silverman's online activism. “Dear Sarah Silverman, please stick to comedy and stay out of politics. This girl, #AhedTamimi, whom you profess support for, is a notorious provocateur, who hit Israeli soldiers and wished to be a martyr”, responded International human rights lawyer Arsen Ostrovsky.

Zionist activist Chloe Valdary also rebuked the comedian saying, “there's so much more to this story, this tweet is irresponsible.  That girl you tweeted about a few days ago is part of a well-orchestrated propaganda machine, her entire family are literally working in this. Don't fall for it, please. Always ask, always doubt.”, tweeted activist Ido Daniel.

It appears that Silverman's critics have a valid and bona fide position towards Silverman's misconstrued sense of “injustice” in regard to Ahed Tamimi.

Writer Petra Marquardt-Bigman explained earlier this year in a widely published article that the teenager's parents are well known Jew haters and over the top radicals. In October 2015, Bassem Tamimi (the father) faced a backlash when he shared a Facebook post promoting “a viral anti-Semitic meme alleging Israelis detain Palestinian children to steal their organs, and that Zionists control the media to suppress this information.”

Basem Tamini is also a supporter of Hezbollah, Bigman pointed out: “he appreciates the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah for fighting against Israel, and he has rewarded a post glorifying the Hamas Al Qassam brigades on his daughter's Facebook page with a “Like.”

Both of Ahed's parents also celebrated a teenage Palestinian terrorist who broke into a home and slaughtered a 13-year-old girl right out in the open on social media.

Both parents have a prominent social media presence, and so does the teenager's cousin Manal Tamimi, who has spread blood libel and vicious Anti-Semitism on twitter and Facebook. In one of her most notorious tweets she explained what Yom Kippur is by tweeting “Vampire Zionist are celebrating by drinking Palestinian blood”.

One can only hope that Sarah Silverman was clearly ignorant of this 17-year old's background. This girl was obviously raised on a diet of steady hatred and is defiantly not an innocent child being bullied by Israeli soldiers as the “social justice warriors” of the world are portraying.

This is how propaganda and misinformation work, you simply leave out half of the story. Will the comedian, who also happens to be Jewish, understand what she is decided to support?
